Cardboard tubes, old drawers, curtain rail,
hosing, ball cocks, boxes and wood found new life in the Senior Room this week
as they became marvellous marble rolling 'machines'. The Seniors third
Creativity Challenge of the year was to create a marble roller within the
dimensions 1 metre X 1 metre x 1/2 metre using recycled materials. Rollers
were tested by timing the marbles path from top to bottom. Olly’s roller
was declared the winner with a cunning combination of ball cock vortexes
and ramps - the marble took 21 seconds to complete its course. Second equal
were Dylan, who cleverly converted a chest of drawers into a series of ramps,
and Gemma whose creation looked similar to the hydro-slide at the Aquatic
Centre! Unity created a stunning three layered platform roller with a
combination of mazes which unfortunately was not within specifications but took
out third place. Congratulations to all students who completed the Challenge
all rollers were a testament to student's perseverance and problem solving
skills.
You guys are so clever. I bet you can't buy one of these from a toy shop. The juniors love your awesome marble tracks and I love sneaking in and having a go or three too.
